
Lane Calcutt
Lane Calcutt is one Queensland’s most experienced and respected journalists after working for 45 years in newspapers and TV news, covering major events here and overseas.
Lane began his career at the Brisbane Telegraph where he spent ten years, before switching to Nine News.
As a political journalist Lane covered every State and Federal election campaign between 1983 and 2020, including ten years covering Federal politics in Nine’s Canberra press gallery bureau.
He also spent three years in the network’s London bureau, covering events in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
While Lane mostly covered politics, he also led Nine’s coverage of major events in Queensland like Covid, cyclones, floods, and bushfires.
He also reported in the Pacific region for the network.
In 2022, Lane moved to the State Government as a senior media advisor to Premiers Annastacia Palaszczuk and Steven Miles.
